Over the past year, I have been ruminating on Organized Play for Supershow. This is coming to fruition by summer with the Event Reporting System. Below is a high level view on how things will work, and how the system does things.
Players and Accounts
Everything is tied to your account on Powerbomb Online. You can register for events directly on the site, or the tournament GM can add you on site. If you don’t have an account, an account will be generated automatically and an email sent to you to confirm your account.
Under your profile, all of your past tournaments, placement, and points will appear.
Seasons and Points
Seasons are currently scheduled to run 6 months with Season 1 scheduled to begin June 1. Points are accrued by your performance at tournaments, and the tournament must be conducted through the event reporter.
Points will be your accumulated point total for wins at the event, with boosters for top cuts and winning.
At the beginning of a Season, a new season point total will be started, and all players will start with 0 points.
Leaderboards will be broken down into Global>State>Store with Lifetime and Season points. These will also be broken into event type: Singles, Tornado, Tag, etc..
Below is the rounds and top cut calculators. This will automatically be enforced by the system.
- 5-8 Players = 3 Rounds Cut Top 4.
- 9-16 Players = 4 Rounds Cut top 4.
- 17-32 Players = 5 Rounds. Cut Top 8.
- 33- 64 Players = 6 Rounds. Cut top 16 Additional +2 Points Participation
- 65-128 Players = 7 Rounds.Cut Top 32 Additional +3 Points Participation
- 129-212 Players = 8 Rounds. 4 Rounds Cut Top Half, Cut Top 32 Additional +4 Points Participation
- 213- 385 Players = 9 Rounds. 5 Rounds Cut Top Half, Cut Top 32 Additional +5 Points Participation
Each Match is worth 3 points. How those points are broken up depends on the format. Bullet, Single Elimination, and Double Elimination are all worth 3 points for match win.
Swiss 2 of 3
2-0 Match Win: 3 Points.
2-1 Match Win: 2 Points Winner, 1 Point Opponent
Possible bonus points will be gathered for performance.
Top Cut 8 and Above: +1 Point
Tournament win: Dependent upon size of tournament.
Pairings will be random in round 1. All other rounds will be based on record, then Strength of Schedule. In odd number cases the weaker Strength of Schedule will be paired down to the lower record. IE: there are an odd number of 3-2 records, the lowest SOS 3-2 will be paired down against the highest SOS 2-3 player.
Strength of Schedule
Strength of Schedule(SOS) is determined by the win percentage of everyone you have played through the day and their point totals. The more wins your opponents have through the tournament, the better your SOS. This will be used to determine tie breakers, who makes top cuts and tie-breaking diversity.
Example: You Go 3-2 in a 56 Round Event.
|Opp. B(1-4)||Opp. C(2-3)5pts||Opp. D(3-2)||Opp. E(4-1)||Opp F(5-0)|
The Strength of Schedule for a 3-2 who played the above opponents would be 15 wins/25 matches = 60/35 Points = 1.714
